My name is robert anthony leggo; adopted son of Eric Rowe Leggo and Ruth Agnes Leggo (nee ruth agnes gardiner -garden). Eric and Ruth adopted four children: Ruth Erica , james ,Robert and jeffrey. I do know all our pre adopted names , I believe Eric's fathers name was James Rowe and he was a teacher /school master at Armidale NSW. Eric had a brother Orion and a sister Victoria. Ruth Erica lives at Warwich QLD ,Robert resides at Coraki NNSW, and jeffrey at warwich. I Robert have three children Robert Leonard, Elissa Jane and Meranda Alice and their children Bailey ,Lucey,Kaitlyn,Brittany, Jake ,Brice ,Alana, Jarrod ,Bridey and Riley. The rowe was not passed on as we were not natural born Leggo's.note the picture of yours truly Robin Tatham /Robert Leggo.

James Rowe Leggo was born in Bendigo in Victoria in 1864 He died in 1913 at Armidale. His wife Georgina whom he married at Ballarat, she died at Daughter 'Bessie' house in Darghan St, Glebe on 29 March 1936.
James was the schoolmaster at Guyra before North Armidale.
Daughter Adne Elizabeth known as 'Bessie' was born 1899 at Guyra, and married James Augustus MCAULEY on 4 October 1926 at Glebe.
Orion was born Charles Orion Victor LEGGO at Guyra in 1894 and another daughter Olive May LEGGO was born in Emmaville in 1892, she married an O'Neill. There was Ernest he died as a baby in 1903. Eric was born in Armidale in 1906 and married Ruth GARDINER-GARDEN at Burwood in 1930, Ruth was born in Smithfield in 1907.
I don't know of a Victoria.
If there was a Victoria, she died before Georgina because in Georgina's funeral notice only Olive, Orion, Bessie and Eric are mentioned.
This isn't my family I found the above info in a general search through BD&M and the newspapers. Maybe of some help. Jan
tadaption on 2011-05-03 07:11:40Hello Janilye, You've hit the nail dead centre .There was no Victoria.I spoke to Erica just after I posted my piece and she told me "no Victoria" and wow you've confirmed every thing. Each of us has a different family birth name and as such I am trying to leave a legacy for my family so they understand exactly who they are . I have photos of the family leggo, and have compiled my birth rite "tatham" back three generations. Many thanks for your help Jan . BOB leggo

I don't know her maiden name. If it was Madron and that just isn't the father's second forename. The Madron's were miners from Cornwall and the name can be found in Western Australia, Broken Hill, Port Pirie and Victoria of course. Just about anywhere there was a mine there was a MADRON. However if it just his second forename ...well
Best to get the marriage certificate from Victoria.
tadaption on 2011-05-04 16:48:44Many thanks Jan for your help with the Leggo's. That's the close of the adpotion side of my life. I'm now moving on to the Tatham / Rose (mum and dad). I have gained info back to my great grandfather Joseph T.1857 to1907.My grandfather Fred Rose migrated to Aus from Wales still searching info and his wife Mary Anne Marr; is a strange one as her parents are listed as William Gordon and mother Elizabeth Gordon (nee Bell).Mary Anne died 1944 Brisbane ,and am now trying to track down her birth . So I have a fair way to go and many hours of searching. Once again many thanks for your help Bob Leggo/ Robin Francis Tatham.
