I would like to know about ALBERT HENRY ALLEY (known as BERT) who was born in Hikutaia New Zealand in about 1887
I have found quite a few Alleys of that area and that era but I would like to know which ones were his parents and siblings.
He married Robina Myrtle Avery (known as Ruby).
She was the 10th of 12 children, daughter of George Avery 1852-1907 from Taita, New Zealand and Sarah Elizabeth Scrimshaw 1857-1914 from Lower Hutt.

There's quite a bit of scandal on the George Avery vs Sarah Elizabeth Scrimshaw scene. In brief, George accused Sarah of infidelity, but it was a cover-up for his own adultery. It's why the two of them lived separate lives after a highly public court case, and the children lived in various places after that as well.

Parents Charles Alley b 1858 Taradale Hawkes Bay m Emily Nicholas in Hikutaia Emily was b 1864. Charles and Emily had 10 children - Albert Henry 1885 - 1939 James Pakurangi 1889 - ? Charles Robert 1890 - 1977
Alfred William ? - ? George Edward ? - ? David Clifford ? - ? Norah Ngahui ? - ? Eric Alexander ? - d 1918 Edna Helena ? - ? and Hector John.
Charles Died in 1915 Emily died 1903 giving birth to twins of which neither of them survived. I believe emily's mother helped charles with the childrens upbringing Parents of Charles was Henry Alley And Agnes Walker. alfore

Can I respectfully suggest that for the 13 members of Alfred Alley and Clara Nicholas's children On the Hikutaia war memorial posting have two errors.
5th Geoffrey Thomas Alley and 4th Philip John Alley are brothers but do not belong to Alfred and Clara Alley nee Nicholas. Their Parents were Frederick James Alley and Maria Clara Buckingham other children were 3rd Rewi Alley, 1st Eric Buckingham Alley, and 2nd Gwendoline Lucy. Geoffrey was an all black and can be googled for further info alfore
