How much information do you have on the Chisholm family? With that said maybe I can better help you. When was your John Chisholm born? Have you come across where he was married or maybe not married to a Cherokee women?

John Chisholm was born around 1876 approx. in Inverness, Scotland. I think I have found census 1891 for him in Kiltarlity, Inverness with wife Janet and children. He was a tinsmith and possibly a farmer acc. to census. I cannot find birth or marriage records for him or his daughter Mary born abt 18ll. The Mary on his census was born 1832 so cannot be my Mary.

Her death certificate is the closest I have found and her son Angus marriage which gave me her name in first place. Mary Chisholm death at 70yrs in 1881, probably approximate as well. Says her parents John Chisholm and Janet Stewart, no dates of birth or death for them.
