ASHBURTON Householders Meetings - April 29 1896

the SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEMBERS from Householders meetings held in Ashburton April 1896

GREENSTREET
There was a good attendance. Fourteen householders were nominated and the ballot resulted in the following being elected, Messrs:-
* BRAY
* CHURCH
* CLARK
* HYDE
* V. S. KNOX
* McLEY
* STONE
At a Committee meeting Mr T. Stone was elected Chairman of Comittee

LISMORE
There was a fair attendance. Mr C. J. HARPER was voted to the chair.
The following Committee was elected, Messrs:-
* J. BELL
* T. DYER
* W. P. KELLOCK
* J. PATERSON
* A. SMITH
A unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman (Mr C. J. Harper) for his services for the past fourteen years. At the meeting of the Committee held afterwards Mr James Paterson was elected Chairman

MAYFIELD
The election of Mayfield School Committee resulted as follows, Messrs:-
* John BURGESS
* J. L. CHRISTENSEN
* James DELLOW (1857-1922)
* P. M. H. HAASE (Peter Mathias Henry 1856-1923)
* Daniel KELLAHAN
* Angus REID
* J. TWEEDY
At the Committee meeting held after the election Mr James Dellow was elected chairman, Mr P. M. H. Haase secretary and Messrs Haase and Christensen visiting committee.
There was no excitement, there being only seven householders present besides the schoolmaster

METHVEN
There was a large attendance. The Chairman reported a balance in hand, an increase in the number of the children attending school and a satisfactory report from the Inspector.
The following were elected a Committee for the ensuing year, Messrs:
* G. H. ALINGTON (George Hildebrand Alington 1850-1905)
* H. G. BAKER
* W. B. McDONALD
* W. MORGAN
* SHANN
* STOBA
* SULLIVAN
Mr Shann was re-elected Chairman. It was decided to hold the meeting as usual on the last Monday in the month. The tender of Mrs Grainger for cleaning the school was accepted

NEWLANDS
There was a fair attendance. The Chairman reported generally upon the work throughout the past year and the improvements carried out and still leaving a credit balance of ?12 12s 2d (2012 equivalent of $2,200). The election was then proceeded with and resulted in the appointment of the following Committee, Messrs:-
* BENNISON
* COOK
* HAMPTON
* MacKAY (Chairman)
* WILLIAMS

WINCHMORE
The following were elected members of the Winchmore School Comittee, Messrs:-
* F. CAPON
* W. GREEN
* J. JOHNSON
* R. MILLER (Chairman)
* W. O'GRADY
* G. ROBERTSON
* SUTTON
