Elsie Maud McKee MILLAR (1903-1938)
was a daughter of Henry James MILLAR (1878-1967) & Cecilia CARR (1876-1952). Her father was the 7th of 14 children of James MILLAR (1845-1919) & Letitia Fergusson McKEE (1844-1925)

ELSIE married Hugh Robert BOAL (1895-1964) in 1923
- 3rd of 8 children of Samuel BOAL (1857-1925) & Eliza Jane LEMON (1877-1915)
- he served in WWI as Private 24129 with NZEF, 13th Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Battalion, C Company
- his brother Frecerick Boal also served, as Private 6/4204 with NZEF, 11th Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Battalion, C Company. Frederick mamrried Elsie May ADAMS in 1921
- Elsie & Hugh had 2 daughters



ELSIE died 28 December 1937 aged 34
her OBITUARY appeared in the 'Ellesmere Guardian' 4 Jan 1938

... The death occurred suddenly last week of Mrs Hugh Robert Boal, Killinchy (Canterbury), in her thirty-fifth year. Mrs Boal who was the second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Millar, Irwell, had resided in the Ellesmere district all her life, attending the Irwell School and Southbridge District High School.
After her marriage, Mrs Boal resided at Killinchy, where she took a keen interet in all district affairs and won the warm regard of the residents.
She is survived by her husband and two young daughters
When the funeral took place, service was conducted at Mr and Mrs Millar's residence by the Rev D. N. Pryor, minister of Leeston Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev S. Bailey, of Leeston Methodist Church, who also took the burial service at the Ellesmere Cemetery, Leeston,
A large number of friends from all parts of the Ellesmere county followed the cortege from Irwell to the cemetery.

The pallbearers were Messrs Harry Millar (brother), H. R. Barnett, J. (John Frederick) and D. (David George) Boal (brothers-in-law)
