My Grandmother was Elizabeth Sandifer born in Indiana in 1899. Her father was Zachariah Taylor Sandifer born in 1867. His father was John Sandifer but he was also on census as Sandifar, Sandaford. He was born in 1842 in Iowa although it sometimes states he was born in Ind. His wifes name was Mary E. Cole.Iam having trouble finding his father. I found him with John in 1850 Cesus. His name was Oscar Sandaford and he came from South Carolina.I have found out that many times the name has been changed either by ancestors or the people taking the census. Cross matching references and looking at neighbors have been very helpful
