This could be coincidence but my name is Richard Granback (I go by rick) I have a half brother named Ted somewhere out there with whom I lost contact with many years ago. My parents Richard Granback (passed asay Dec 30 2000) and Kathy Granback who I understand remarried and has also passed away many years earlier after being in poor health. Possibly another cooincidence is I had learned Ted had a wife who I never me that was named Vickie and that he had 2 daughters and it was through one of them that I briefly managed to find Ted and we exchanged a few letters. Also I had learned that at least for a time he lived out in El Centro California. Just from what you have provided it seems the odds are higher than we just share a rather uncommon last name. During a personal tradegy I recieved a letter from Ted saying he was selling his business and moving on and wanted to come visit. With the world crumbling around me I put off answering the letter until one day I found it among old papers. I wrote a long reply and attempted contact Ted however there was no reply and the letter never came back undeliverable. I suspect it arrived sometime after Ted and his family had moved on.
