I have found that Mary Jane was born in 1865 & died 16th Jan. 1949.
John McArthur was born 1864 & died 11th Nov. 1960.
Both died in Australia
Mary Jane had a sister Julia & a brother Jack.

Thank You - 1 more piece of the jigsaw. Do you know where they married or where they were born.

The Queensland Indexes do not include places of events so unable to assist with John and Mary's marriage place.

From what I can see John MCPHEE and Maria KITCHEN (also recorded as KETCHEN) had six children in Queensland between 1864 and 1878, but there is no Mary recorded. If Mary was born in Queensland it appears her birth was not registered, or the birth was simply not included when the indexes were being compiled.

No marriage located in Queensland for John and Maria so they may have married before they arrived in Queensland. It's also possible Mary was a babe in arms when they arrived.

Once again Thank You, you have been a great help. In my records her name was Marie but because Mary Jane called one of her daughters Maria, I am more inclined to think her name is Maria. Maybe her birth was not recorded. Interesting. Maybe John & Maria were the 1st ones to come to Australia. Did it show any children they may have had in Qld. You have been a great help.

Children located for John MCPHEE and Maria.

I have included the mother's name beside each birth and death to indicate the spelling of her name in the records. Keep in mind the indexes are full of spelling errora and a birth or death certificate may record the name with a different spelling again.

Julia MCPHEE
Born: 06 July 1864, Queensland. (Maria KITCHEN)

Thomas MCPHEE
Born: 29 June 1866, Queensland. (Maria KITCHEN)
Died: ?

Thomas MCPHEE
Born: 16 April 1869, Queensland. (Maria KITCHEN)
Died: 1952 Queensland. (Maria KITCHEN)

Charles Leonard MCPHEE
Born: 03 July 1871, Queensland. (Maria KETCHEN)
Died: 07 July 1872, Queensland. (Maria KITCHEN)

Agnes MCPHEE
Born: 11 June 1873, Queensland. (Maria KETCHEN)

Mabel MCPHEE
Born: 11 July 1875, Queensland. (Maria KETCHEN)

Eleanor MCPHEE
Born: 06 February 1878, Queensland. (Maria KETCHEN)

The first Thomas born in 1866 must have died but I'm unable to located his death record.

As mentioned before, the Queensland Indexes do not include event places, nor do they include ages at death.

The mother is recorded as Maria in all events, but I'm still not sure about about the correct spelling of her maiden name.

Cheers.

You are magic, I can't Thank You enough. I just wondered about Mary Jane. I can't believe how far you have been able to locate my forebears.

First Thomas is actually John, don't know why name was changed. John died in tragic circumstances in Northern Territory. Mabel is actually Lauretta Mabel who was my grandmother. Maria's surname I believe was Ketchen. Julia died in childbirth and Eleanor raised the youngest two girls of Lauretta and Edward Casey Christian

I forgot about Margaret, she was the eldest and was born in Scotland the rest were born in Australia. Margaret married Samuel Davis and were well known in the Koumala area. Margaret and Samuel had 11 children. Mary Jane and John McArthur had 12 children. I can give you all their names and birth dates if you are interested.
