Thank you so very much for this information. I will contact aunt Barbara for copies of the photos. Aren't Barbara and Charles great people to spend time with? Again, Thank you.

I just visited Ludwigsruh with your relative, Barbara. The home is reconstructed as an apartment in a modern stucco style. It is three stories high and yellow in color. There is what appears to be an office of a dermatologist on the bottom floor. The outbuildings are still standing in their pre-war condition including the garages and the driver's quarters. The walls to either side of the home are still in their orignial condition. Barbara has recent photos if you want them dated appx. 6-22-07.
We had substantial difficulty driving to Ludwigsruh because all the main roads from Kustrean have been re-routed. The old road through Feets is still there.
Although we were lost much of the time, we were able to find the old town by luck and by reference to old landmarks that Barbara pointed out. Charles had driven to the home many trips in the past, but the roads and name have changed, so it was not easy. In our travels, it was evident that this is a beautiful and historic area that is now in the hands of a quickly modernizing Polish society that has little interest in preserving the past. Luckily Ludwigsruh is such a small villiage that it has not been modernized as much, but they have paved over all the cobblestone roads, closed the train station that our relatives used to go to Lansberg, terminated the train that used to run on the tracks, put in electricity on ugly concrete power poles. Fortunately there are still remaining vestiges of a very charming and pastoral lifestyle that must have been present before all the political changes.
