Dear Elise, Hi there. You can find out all this information and more if you sign up as a free member of rootschat. Goto the link below, have a little read of what others have written.

Generally, start off with a subject heading like "1841 Census Lookup please ADAMS family Doncaster", then type all the factual info that you are aware of (so as to not waste other genealogists time). All these lookups are done as a favour to others.

Rootschat.com - England - Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests

Even if your family arrived in Australia in 1841, they would have left behind parents and/or siblings and people generally didn't move round too much so you might be able to find them in Doncaster.

If you want more information than this, you will have to put your family tree on line say at one of the free websites out there - tribalpages is pretty good. Google it and you will find website.

Good luck. Any more queries, just send me a personal message.

Make sure you read my journal on Australia : Genealogy in Victoria, etc.
