Denis (III) met his wife “Gwen” at Palmer's clothing Store Sydney. They had 4 children.
During the depression they lived in a dirt floor garage on their parent’s property and eventually Denis gained job at Goodyear tyre factory as a floor sweeper. He supplemented his income as an SP bookmaker. He later won first prise in the jackpot lottery which gave him secure for the rest of his life.
