In researching my CANTWELL * ancestors and descendants I sometimes do research when I have the time on the families that surround them in the hopes that I can get in touch with descendants that are genie buffs/family historians. Below are my details on the BENSON family, mostly researched freely online at The New South Wales Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Thomas BENSON born abt 1840 place unknown, married in 1863 at Maitland NSW to Catherine RYAN. {Source: NSW BDM Marriage Registration No. 2226/1863 BENSON, THOMAS and RYAN, CATHERINE at MAITLAND}.

Thomas and Catherine BENSON had 12 known children that I can find:-

1.Elizabeth E. BENSON born 1868 Patricks Plain NSW
2 possible marriages to grooms - Charles B. HENNINGHAM and/or a David A. DAGGAR according to the NSW BDM marriages online.

2.Bridget Ellen BENSON born 1869 Patricks Plain NSW
married James CANTWELL*. See individual journal.

3.John D. BENSON born 1871 Patricks Plain NSW married 1908 Quirindi NSW to Esther PEGLER. Corrected data @ 26 March 2008 as per comments below.

4.Thomas BENSON born 1873 Patricks Plain NSW
2 possible marriages to brides with surnames MCMAHON/MACMAHON or GRACE according to NSW BDM marriages online

5.Edward BENSON born 1874 Patricks Plain NSW
2 possible marriages to brides with surnames BILL/BULL or WILLIAMS according to NSW BDM marriages online

6.Catherine BENSON born 1875 Patricks Plain NSW
2 possible marriages to grooms with surnames FOSTER and/or WILLIAMS according to NSW BDM marriages online

7.Mary A. BENSON born 1877 Patricks Plain NSW
4 possible marriages to grooms with surnames WOOD / OSHEA / IRVING / CAMERON according to NSW BDM marriages online

8.Edward Joseph BENSON born 1879 Patricks Plain NSW married Margaret BILL/BULL in 1893 at Granville NSW

9.Alice Ann BENSON born 1881 Patricks Plain NSW
married Charles A. ALLEN in 1904 at East Maitland NSW

10.Frances J. BENSON born 1885 Patricks Plain NSW
married Dennis THOMPSON in 1906 at Kurri Kurri NSW

Note: All the above children were found listed as births to parents Thomas BENSON and Catherine. And these two children's names were found in the deaths search for all children that died with parents Thomas BENSON and Catherine.

11.Evelyn M. BENSON born possibly between 1863 and 1868 perhaps in State of Victoria. Died 1924 West Maitland NSW. Married Ralph HOWARTH in 1914 at Waverley NSW.

12.Percy John BENSON born possibly between 1863 and 1868 perhaps in State of Victoria. Died 1974 NSW. Possible marriage to bride Sarah Evelyn GILKISON in 1925 NSW. Correction as per comments below 26 March 2008.
