He was tried and convicted in Staffordhsire on 30th July 1788 and sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia aboard the 'Matilda' in 1791 with the Third Fleet. I cannot find any record of what he was convicted of.

Hi Jenny,
I am descended from James Haydon but havent been doing any research on him. I cannot find any trace of his marriage but had 5 children, from marriage to Mary Keen/Jane Kane. A start could be to register on www.ancestry.com.au and have a look at a few of the convict registers or you can order a convict record of James from NSW archives but other than that I cant think of any other possibilities,
Regards,
Sam
