Karen - you wrote to me to explain that you was a decendant of the Carters from Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. Also that you have found info back to the 1400's on Carters in England.
However I replied that Carter is a very common name, the carter would move items in medieval society, and so every small town had its carters, an occupational surname. Thus where do your Carters come from in England? I would love to read an article here, and it may be of some help to others.
