Interested in finding information and contacts re Byrne family from Wicklow Ireland. My grandfather Thomas Joseph Byrne was born 1892 at Britas Bay, Ballytonny, Ireland. His parents were John Byrne and Esther McGrath.

Thomas came to Australia around 1910, firstly to the Melbourne area, then to Bundaberg, Qld. He married Elizabeth Ferris in Bundaberg, 1918, whilst he was cane cutting in that area. One daughter was born whilst there, then 2 sons were born in Nth Qld.

When they moved to Mareeba he took up farming, mostly tobacco - supplementing the income by returning to the coast to cut cane. He died in 1946 at Mareeba, Qld.
