My husbands Father was 63 when my husband was born in 1941. His name was Harold,(he had a brother called Harry) he spent some of his life in the Merchant Navy and some in the mines, at Bentinct Colliery on a panel 41 called Waterloo. He lived in Crees Yard Kirkby in Ashfield Nottinghamshire England UK. My Husbands name is Arthur Douglas Braithwaite. Harold was a cricketer,and played Bowls, for The Green Man Public House. at Kirkby in Ashfield. My Husband does not know any of his family, can anyone help us?. Margaret and Doug.

Dear Margaret & Doug, a bit of help for you.

Sign up as a free member of rootschat, then goto their Yorkshire board, and post an 1881 Census lookup request to find your husband's family. Harold BRAITHWAITE would have been born 1878, so would be aged a 5yr old boy on that census. Then you can check 1891, 1901, 1871, 1861, 1851, 1841 census, and go back further via parish records.
