Krushka Derby Tasmania

Journal by Harborgill

I am just starting to gather information about my family history I am the great granddaughter of Charles Krushka my grandmother was Sybil Vivo (Viva) Krusha one of three girls ( Minnie & Vera) born to Charles and his second wife Emma Catherine Krushka I am aware that there were half brothers and sisters from Charles' first marriage. I was born on my Grandmothers 60th birthday or so our family was always lead to believe that was her age being the 16th June 1960 but have since discovered her birthday was 16th June 1898 she was 62 not 60. My name is Christine Thistlethwaite nee (Blundell) the only child of my father (Peter) who was the only son of Albert Blundell and Sybil Krushka along with a daughter Lois who had three children. I have some information in regards to my great grandfather and my two great uncles who founded the Derby tin mine "the brothers mine" but would like to learn more if anyone out there may perhaps have more detailed information. I am aware they originated from Prussia (Germany) and changed their name from Kruschke to Krushka they were avid race horse followers which was apparently the down fall of my Great Grandfather. My great great grandparents were Christian(Christopher) and Johanne (Jane) Krushka and was always told that they were supposed to be a Baron and Baroness ??? I would greatly appreciate it if there is someone out there also researching the Krushka's a distant relative perhaps that could enlighten me a little further as to the history of my family, as both my father and Aunty are now deceased and would like to pass on to my own children their family history and also to share what I compile with my three cousins and their families.
