Leahy / Lahey / Lahy or Semple

Article by David_Leahy

Hi I'm currently researching the Leahy / Lahy surname - mainly Protestant from County Cavan in Ireland and have lots of material to share if anyone would like to do likewise. I'm also researching the Semple family from County Londonderry / Tyrone.

Hi, I am decended from James Lahey of county Kilkenny Ireland who was in the army in India before being transported to Australia as a convict. he married Martha Eaton (Connlon maybe)in India. I have no information relevant to either of them prior to their arrival here is Australia. I have heaps on him after their arrival here if you want this.

Hi Janice,

Thanks for your response. Do you know was your James Lahey protestant or Roman Catholic ?

I have some info on Kilkenny Laheys, i'll dig it out.

I think the Kilkenny ones are all descended from the the Prior at Kells - Thomas Lahey and his son Nicolas Lahey

I have a land deed for Thomas Lahey of Kells from 1592. Its written in secretarial script (old English), but I had it translated, its a beautiful document. Give me an email address and I can send you a copy.
