Our Levi TREASURE married Bettey (Elizabeth) TRUSLER - 13 Jan 1806 Downhead, Somerset.


When and where was he born?

The Facts

1. According to census information Levi was always noted as being born in Stoke Lane, Somerset, England.

2. The census returns suggest that he was born c.1772-6.

3. Levi TREASURE was buried at Stoke Lane, 26 May 1861, was noted as being 89 years, therefore suggesting he was born more towards c.1772.


The Candidates


1. A Levi TREASURE was baptised in Holcombe, 24 Nov 1776. Parents - John & Margaret TREASURE (nee ROBBINS). He was a Dragoon and married Mary PAIN from Child Okeford in Dorset. A daughter Susan was born in Child Okeford and daughter Mary was born in Ireland around 1809, another daughter Jane baptised in Child Okeford in 1815, but in 1820 they were living in Kilmersdon Common, and they baptised a son Thomas in 1820 at St Andrews, Holcombe. They were still in Kilmersdon Common for the 1841 census, and Levi died in 1842, buried in Holcombe, with his age given as 66.

Verdict: Not our Levi.


2. A Levy Treasure PLUMMER was baptised in Nunney, 10 Oct 1776, was a baseborn son of Sarah PLUMMER. Sarah was buried the same day as his baptism and Levy was buried on the 16 Jan 1777 at Nunney.

Verdict: Not our Levi.


3. A Leuey/Levey TREASURE was baptised in Stoke Lane, 8 Oct 1771, with a father called James. A James also baptised the following Treasure children in Stoke Lane:
James 1754, Morgan 1756, John 1758, Mary 1761, Josias 1763 and *y (Mary?) 1767.

Verdict: Most Likely.
