Owner EditAn interesting article by Val Atkinson that reminds us all to have an open mind when it comes to christian names and surnames in our family trees. Same goes for place names as wellkeeping in mind dialect spoken in differing counties.

Duke is right under the King, Duke means to lead,
Howards of Norfolk were the Premier Dukes, they lead all the state ceremonies such as the coronations etc. They are the closest to the throne. I have all the lines.
I have most of the Ameican family lines that came to Norfolk Va. for the Howards. I need some more info and what ship and how many and where did they start from. During the 1600s there were only two ports of departure, one was Liverpool and the other Plymouth both in England.
How close were these Howard's to the throne line Howards or the ones Henry the 8th beheaded?
