Looking for assistance in tracing the Ball family in Leicester area and Martyn family in Hull area.

Have come to a brick wall on tracing Wallace Ernest Ball and parents of the same in Leicester area. Also Sidney Martyn who served in the Royal Navy WW1 possibly also WW2 but lived in the Hull area.

Thanks in advance for any info

I have Sidney Arnold Martyn born 1890 a "Ships Officer" born in Torquay, Devon, living in Hull in the 1911 census

Thanks for the info, we must be of like minds, as I also came across this info yesterday. So another link in the chain secured.

One of the problems I encountered, was that there were a few Sidney Martyns about so I ended up with a choice of wives. [Sydney for the original - unless the census officer mispelt it] I think I have the right wife now - can't quote her as haven't got the web page at hand. It's a pain when ancestors marry late, cos it doesn't necessarily follow that they married someone of the same age.

Interesting because one of my family names is Arnold; was my Great Grandmothers maiden name, Passed on to Granddad John Arnold (Christian names) cousin William Arnold, his Grandson Sonny (William Arnold) who knows we may be related.

We are on the EXPENSIVE weekend stuff also from Super U - Cabernet d'Anjou 3.27 euros a bottle: boy we know how to live :) so raising a glass with you Salut
