Hello,
Great family history! Have you checked the county or city archive records. If he had a store, was a judge, a postman and a cattle driver you could check at the local library or city halls for old archived records. If the store is still there check on the real estate owners some records go back. Just a thought. I found some newspaper entries on my ancestors from the Kentucky library and University online archives. Do a google type search. I was surprised what I found.
Good Luck,
K
