Welcome jazzie.

There was a Baden HEPBURN born 1906 in Sydney, New South Wales, and died 1976 in Petersham, New South Wales, aged 70 years. If you can confirm this is your grandfather it will be a good starting point for other members willing to assist you locate further information. It saves members research time if they have the correct details to start with.

Good luck.

Yes he is my grandfather. He was originally born Baden Burnes and then second
birth registration is Baden Hepburn (Reg No. 339/1906 N). Born 8th February 1906
at women's Hospital Crown Street. Father is Robert Burnes, General commission agent 43yrs old and mother is Matilda Burnes (Hepburn is her maiden family name) 22yrs old. Matilda and Robert were married December 1901 Melbourne, Victoria. On my grandfather's birth certificate, Matilda's address is Benevolent Asylum Thomas Street.
I have my grandfather's war details (Hepburn Baden Service number N272930). He did his war duty in Darwin. they have his date of birth wrong(07.02.1907).
Next of kin is his sister Jean Deaves. No photograph came with his war records.
I also know that throughout his childhood he was ward of the state and was fostered out a lot but his mother Matilda kept in contact. Government got his date of birth wrong too (09.02.06). His last foster home was with Capp Bros in Singleton and he left his guardianship on 18.12.23 and was discharged from government care on 28.01.24. I am hoping that someone may have a photo of my grandfather Baden Hepburn.
Baden married May Stevens and they had 3 children (Jeanette Alice (my mother) born 26.06.33, Rachel B (deceased) and my uncle Alwyn John born 05.12.35. My grandmother May Hepburn (nee stevens) died 06.12.35. Both my mother and Alwyn were in an orphanage Feb 1936. Jeanette alice Hepburn became Jeanette Dawn Allan adopted by a magistrate Stanley Bathurst Tinning and his wife Mary Eleanor 16.08.38. Alwyn John Hepburn became Peter james Wilson adopted by a superintendent Nathanael william Wilson and his wife Florence Louisa Wilson 31.03.39. I am also looking for my uncle Peter james Wilson living somewhere in NSW - he would be 78 yrs old now. I also know
that my grandfather Baden Hepburn got married again after the war. don't know if he
had anymore children? If anyone has any information on Baden Hepburn, Peter james Wilson or May Stevens I would be so grateful.
