My ancestor William REID born circa 1793 England and immagrated to Newfoundland before 1827 when he was married that year to Ann RUMBOLT, name on marriage record is Henry REID, all other Newfoundland records have him listed as William REID, he died 1883, Newfoundland. His oldest son Timothy born circa 1828 was sent to Poole, England for an education, he was back in Newfoundland by 1849.

Emigration: Abt. 1814, Folklore says he was born with family name Bampton, assumed mother's name Reid.
