Looking for Barron family from UK via Nowra, Australia

Query by davidbarronau

My name is David Barron and I have recently started tracing my family tree. I live near Brisbane in Queensland, Australia with my wife, (living) Henry, and three children. Being new to this and very inexperienced I am open to any suggestions or help that any body can give me on family tree or web page

With help from family members we have traced a great deal of information on some branches Archdall, Sallaway, Herron and Nicol but still have very little on the Barron side.

Milton (Bluey) Lewis Barron was born in Nowra, NSW, Australia in 1914 and died in Muttaburra Qld, Australia in 1969. He married Lillian Hannah Herron in Nowra in 1936 and had two son Maxwell Barron b.1937 Nowra-d.2002 Deception Bay, Qld and (Living) Barron (my father) but he separated and moved to Muttaburra, Qld with Pat and had three more children. His occupation was a mechanic.

Milton's (Bluey) parents were Louis Myrtle (Bert) Barron and Eleanor Thompson who we think was an Irish immigrant. They may have ran a mission of sorts with aboriginal children in the Nowra region and their may have been another son who was institutionalized with a mental condition. Bert was one of 15 children from William Barron and Hannah Wooden.

I do know that Williams parents were James Barron and Mary ? who had 3 boys and 1 girl (James, William, Walter and Emma) but that is where the info runs dry. It appears that there were a few James Barrons with most being convicts transported from the UK.

Any assistance in tracing family any further would be greatly appreciated.

Dear allycat
Thank you very much for your tips. Your second reply has me a little bemused. I hope I havent stepped out side of the guidelines and I dont think I have because no names or dates were given on living family members. If you think I have please let me know as it is an honest mistake and I whole heartedly agree with showing the correct manners for living members (authorised or not)

Hi David,
Have you searched Genealogy Search Australia - there are some Barrons listed there.

Hi David. Miss Manners website was only a guideline just in case one was thinking of posting data on the living.

And if you click here BARRON Family Tree and Genealogy Research you will see the Surname Wiki Page that I created April 2007.

Good luck.

Hi David
My name is Sonia (nee Nicol) and I live in Nelson NZ. I am tracing the Nicol family who came from Glasgow to NZ in 1860's. I am ware that some may have gone to Australia or come to NZ via Australia. I just wondered if you may be willing to share any info about this family?
