Looking for CAMPBELL of southcoast NSW Australia

Hi
I am just starting out in my quest to fill in my family tree.
My problem is "I can't see the tree for the forest" HAHAHAHA

I am looking for information on Thomas William Campbell of Moruya NSW Australia and any info would be grateful. Even a point in the right direction will be appreciated.

I am in Kempsey if I can help anyone from this end.
(Don't know how I could help but am willing to anyway)

thanking you

Dear lostinthewoods, Hi there. You need to provide more information in order for us to help you.

Questions:
Any dates/approximate years of birth/death/marriage?
Who did he marry?

Tip: As CAMPBELL is such a common and popular surname you will need to be very careful you don't research the wrong lines.

Begin your tree with FamilySearch.org. This is FREE records began online by the Mormon Church. There are up to 100 records for 'Thomas Campbell' that you can have a look at!

Births / Deaths / and Marriages are accessible in the State/Colony of New South Wales, Australia at NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages - Historical Indexes. You can even order certs online.

I searched for your 'Thomas William Campbell' born anywhere between 1788 and 1906 and came up with this one and only entry:-

Registration No.10772/1879 CAMPBELL, THOMAS WILLIAM Parents: WILLIAM & MARGARET born at BROULEE.

A search of the marriages section revealed as follows:-

4107/1936 CAMPBELL, WILLIAM THOMAS bride BRAND, HILDA ELLEN at WAVERLEY
2916/1946 CAMPBELL, THOMAS WILLIAM bride FLETCHER, JUNE ALLISON at CONCORD
14809/1947 CAMPBELL, WILLIAM THOMAS bride CHESSOR, MARGARET FAITH at MANLY
27835/1948 CAMPBELL, WILLIAM THOMAS bride HIRD, JEAN ESTHER at GOSFORD Buy Now
19043/1950 CAMPBELL, THOMAS WILLIAM bride ESTRNICH, DULCIE MAY at BYRON BAY

Maybe this is him ... cross fingers?

Thank you also for your offer of help. If you are in Kempsey, are there any local genealogical societies and/or family history groups that you are aware of?

Kind regards,
Alison, QLD Australia

Hi LOst in woods,

Have just had a marvellous time at the Moruya & District Historical Society phone 02 4474 3224.
They have incredibly detailed records of so many people, B, D & M and are very helpful.
Be aware there is a Campbell street in Moruya.

My Aunt was a Campbell (nee Luck) Husband Frank. Possibly a relation? Both buried at Moruya Cemetry, as well as a lot of Campbells.
Hope this helps?

Regards
Roger

Hi,
Just a snippet.

The Campbells must have been in the Broulee area for a long time because from the NSW Gazette October 1843 p 1480 in the list of persons with un-claimed letters for the month of October 1843 held at the Sydney GPO there is a J Campbell of Broulee.
