He was on the trail of tears. He came here from Cherokee. He was a son of a chief. A pony came to the mountains to tell of his Father's death. His firstborn supposedly died..

Johns Rhoades' other children were born between 1852-1871
4 male children are not found between 1871 and 1899. Many sons are found in 1900 census.

Eastern Band of the Cherokees were created in 1874.

There was a John Rhoades who was of the Cherokee Council in Oklahoma. 1835. He had a son who left and have not found him on any census......Roots Web Message Forum
