Ellen Mary Sheehan do you have a date of birth and is she related to Alexander ?
My Alexander emigrated to Australia in 1855. He was listed in the 1841 census (not sure about the 1851 census). Alexander was born in 1834 in Eyemouth. His father James was a stonemason and his mother was Agnes Bookless. James is proving rather difficult to find information on though.
Ellen Mary emigrated to Australia from Ireland in 1856. I can't find anything on her at all.

Happy New Year 2014.
Thank you for your response. My great grandfather, William Andrew Joseph Wood (born May 18610, was their second child. I am keen to explore their family stories before they arrived in Australia. However, as I wrote earlier, I am finding lots of dead ends. I am very appreciative of your research and hope we can continue to communicate with discoveries.
Happy new year to you!
