I will just add a couple of dates here so others can get a rough idea - the better to help you
Samuel Yeoman Collins (1824-1897)
Rachel Collins (1827-1909)

New Zealand born children:
1861 - Edward Clements Collins
1864 - 1940 Herbert Yeoman Collins
1867 - 1868 Helena Jane Collins (aged 14 months)
1879 - 1947 Augustus Charles Hugh Collins

There were other children but research not yet done

In 1874 Samuel Yeoman Collins, Esq., was Sheriff's Officer in Auckland
In 1876 Samuel was the Returning Officer for the election of members of the House of Representatives for the electoral districts of City of Auckland East, City of Auckland West, Parnell, Newton and Waitemata
In 1879 Samuel was the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Clive, Hawkes Bay
