Looking for Eastin of Kentucky

Query by Cicer

My ancestor is James Henry Eastin b. 1845 d.1925 Collin Co, TX

Family tradition states:
"James was orphaned when he was four years old in Tennessee. His parents were killed in a house fire. Their five children survived. When James was 12, he came to Texas with Dr. W.D. Lair on a cattle drive. "

I have been unable to identify his parents and am at a stand still in my research.

Any information you could share would be most appreciated.

I would assume you have researched the siblings? Have you tried to find a delayed birth certificate for any of the siblings that survived thru the 1940's? That would definitely exist if they were alive and wanted social security benefits.
