Looking for Fa'aope and Gauula of Western Samoa

Query by lilpop

Hello,

My name is Lili Elizabeth Fa'aope I live in Wellington New Zealand
I am 43 yrs old full Samoan. My birthplace was Christchurch New Zealand. My parents were both Samoans.

I am doing a family tree, as I would like to know where it all began.
I do not have much information on either parent as my mother passed away a few yrs back. My father have not heard since I was young.
I heard through the grapevine that he has remarried.

My father has a brother who lived in Hawaii how I know this is because my younger brother went to visit him back in the late 80's I have no idea where in Hawaii.

My mothers last name as to what I am believe is GAUULA and she was from the island Maanono Apia Western Samoa (I think thats how it is spelt).

So yea if anyone can help me out on this would be much appreciated I would like to start this family tree as I have a daughter and it would be good for her to know her family background.

Dear Lili, Welcome.

If you click on this website you will find out more...
FamilySearch - The largest collection of free family history, family tree and genealogy records in the world.

Also have a read when you get there on

"...Get Started With Family History

* How do I get started?
* Helpful research guidance
* Why family history?
* Forms, maps and guides..."

And have a look at this site ...
The Surname Navigator. It's a powerful genealogy search engine. Just click on a country from the drop down list, type in your surname and press enter. Don't panic as about 14 window boxes will open up full of information on the surname you entered. Read through each page then click on the red cross in the top right-hand corner to close each window down.

Think about starting your own family tree online for free at TribalPages and get your other relatives to join up and contribute. You can password protect your site and hide details on living relatives. You can add photographs also.

Good luck,
Alison

This site will help you also. Has childboards for New Zealand and Samoa that will no doubt interest you. Samoa is divided up into three sections - General, American Samoa and Western Samoa.
