I'm not related but I can help you out a bit. I know that his father was Griffin Cant 1836-1920 The newspapers called him Griffith but he was on the electoral Roll as Griffin.
Came out to Australia, age 12 with his parents, Griffin CANT 1797-1873 and Mary BROWN 1796-1865 arrived in Adelaide. (don't know ship or date) Both died in Adelaide. After Mary Brown died Griffin Senior married again (1866)I believe her name was Esther KIRKMAN, she died in South Australia in 1894.
Griffin Jnr. married in Victoria and lived around the central goldfields, Castlemaine, Guildford, Campbell's Creek etc. then in 1904 he was a bag Merchant in Brunswick St., Fitzroy.

Lunn, Clifton Hill), and Eva, aged 84. A colonist of 72 years. (Native of Caldicot, Befordshire, England).

Now Elizabeth Emma came out with her parents James Taylor 1818-1908 and Lucy Preddy 1816-1901 They arrived in Victoria in 9 October 1852 on the ship ' Dominion' Both James and Lucy Taylor died in Talbot, Victoria.

Many Thanks. I had tracked him back to Campbells Creek. In a strange twist the ancestors of Walters daughter in law, May Caroline Deverall, wife of Roy Stanley Cant lived in the talbot area and some are buried at the Talbot - Amherst Cemetry
