Looking for Henry Dickenson

Journal by Jobev

Researching Dickenson family have found Henry Dickenson who married Mary Ann Winter in 1861 at Long Creek in Australia.
They had several children, Amy in 1865, Henry in 1866, Mary 1868, Edwin 1869, May (unknown dob), Cecil in 1872, Grace in 1874 and Matilda 1878.
Have been trying to find Henry's arrival in Australia and his family from Sussex England. He was 20 years old when he came to NSW.

The only Henry DICKENSON recorded in the N.S.W. shipping records I could find arrived on the "CALABAR" on the 8th February 1861. There was also a Charlotte DICKENSON arriving on the same ship, if that rings any bells for you. Their ages were not recorded. I expect this will be your Henry.

May DICKENSON, daughter of Henry and Mary Ann, was born in 1880.

Hope this is of some help.

Thank you but don't believe this to be him as he would have been between 20 and 23 years old when he arrived in NSW, some variance in records as to his birth date either 1831 or 1833 he died in 1920 at 87 and was believed to be in NSW for approx 67 years.
Could possibly have embarked in another state in Australia.
Thank you also for May's year of birth.

Had a look at the Victorian shipping records but could not find your Henry landing here. Tried a few variations of spelling the name but found nothing. Anyway, we found May.

Have a feeling he may not want to have been found no record of his parents on his marriage or death certificate. Have had no trouble finding ancestors since his arrival. Found several Henry Dickenson's born or baptised around the time he would have been born on Family Search website but none from Sussex.
