Looking for Henry Dixon of Australia

Journal by elimbah

Hi

I am looking for my great-great-great grandfather Mr Henry Dixon who married Bridget Brown or Mcglinn at Grenfell in NSW.

I cannot find any other information regarding where he came from or his parents etc.

He was born around 1848 I think and they had 6 children - Bridget, Alfred, Thomas, Frank, William and Walter.

Bridget nee Brown or McGlinn died in 1917 and was buried in Orange, NSW and we think that Henry had passed away before then.

Any help with Henry or even Bridget would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Dear elimbah, Welcome.

Purchase Bridget Dixon's Death Certificate securely online for $27.00. Cert will take approx. 3 weeks via post.

I cannot find any marriages whatsoever between Groom Henry DIXON that lists Bridget as bride. Perhaps marriage was not registered with the NSW bdms.

Death Certificates are very useful as they will contain lots of information and give you more clues to further your tree.

Hi Alison

Thanks for that - they sure are a mystery couple.
I have Bridget's death certificate (can't find Henry's)and it gives very little away.
It says she was born at Yass NSW, however all the family believe she was born in Ireland and was a McGlinn. However on her sons death certificate it clearly states that her maiden neme was Brown.
No-one in the famliy knows of Henry's background, although one great Aunt thought he was Irish but had come from America.

The journey continues
