Welcome jobbo.

You did not give Robert's year of birth or parents names, or what details you are looking for. Here are two deaths to start the ball rolling.

DEATH.

Name: Robert HAMILTON.
Died: 1869 in Victoria, Australia.
Birth place: Ireland.
Age: 22 years.
Father: James HAMILTON.
Mother: Ann POURTS.
Ref: Registry of Deaths, Victoria. Reg #9697.

DEATH.

Name: Robert HAMILTON.
Died: 1875 Victoria, Australia.
Birth place: Ireland.
Age: 32 years.
Father: Alexander HAMILTON.
Mother: Maria ROBERTSON.
Ref: Registry of Deaths, Victoria. Reg #3840.

Hundreds of deaths in Victoria alone for a Robert HAMILTON and you will have to supply a few more details. Wife's name would also help track him down through the births of their children.

Cheers.

Thanks tonkin for such a quick response. Robert was born c.1822 in Armagh Ireland. Have not been able to trace his birth parents or locate birth certificate. He married? in Scotland to Mary Taylor. The Banns were with the Parish Church of Row signed 3 October 1910. Unable to trace marriage certificate. I have been able to find Mary's birth certificate. Robert migrated to Tasmania and then moved to Victoria. He died in Victoria age 1963. There were 4 children.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused.

If Robert was born circa 1822 he could not have died in 1963.

I'm also wondering about the Banns signed in 1910. Seems a bit late to be for Robert and Mary.

You may need to check your records again for Robert's death details.

Not a problem Jobbo. It's easy to make errors when looking at lots of names and event dates. Anyway, I searched the Victorian Death Records again today but unable to locate a death for Robert in 1963. This makes me think someone has given you the wrong year of death.

Are you sure Robert died in Victoria in 1963?

The marriage of Robert Hamilton & Mary Taylor 1910 is listed on the Scotlands People site, it may be to new a record to view but a copy should be available to purchase from GRO Scotland.

Hi tonkin I will go back and recheck my source for the date of death.

Hi asheppard - thanks also for your reply and I will follow up with Scotlands People and the GPO.
