Looking for information about Isabella Jane Gillis Chapman my great grandmother

Article by pmonckton

I have some information on my great grandmaother from my great grandfather, Hugh Monckton's Diary. My great grandmother was born in London in May 1849 named above in a parish regsiter from St Johns parish Church Hoxton Middlesex baptismal record dated 1851 listing both parents as deceased. She appears to have been taken care of under poor law union rules (workhouse probably) but then came to Australia sometime in the 1850s. I know that she lived at the house of Thomas Burr in Castelmaine Victoria. From the Burr records on this website it apears that Isabella Gillis married Thomas Burr in 1857 in Castlemaine. I think that Isabella Gillis must have been my great grandmother's aunt since she has the same names in her name although she was the daughter of Janay Chapman Isabella Gillis was her sister and maybe came out from England with her or came separately and then sent for her. Isabella Burr then has a death record in the register in 1863. I am trying to find any passenger records of the passage of either my great grandmother or her aunt coming to Victoria Australia in the 1850s or 1860s but so far no luck. Can anyone help with any conections or where I could find any further information.
