Looking for information regarding Peter Duncanson born Scotland in 1845
I know that Peter Duncanson was my greatgrandfather born 1845 and he married Eliza Ross on December 31, 1869 - she was born in 1851. I know that Peter's father was George Duncanson (born around 1807 and his mother was Janet Wilson born around 1802. I am stuck trying to find out what year my great grandfather Peter died and also when my greatgrandmother Eliza died (I do have a picture she sent to my grandmother on her 80th birthday so she would have been alive around 1931). Also who were her parents - am totally unable to get past her for her side of the family. Peter and Eliza had 9 children (at least that is what I am able to come up with). Many of them came to Canada in the early 1900's and settled in Vancouver, BC area; one great aunt Anne Campbell Duncanson married James Dunlop Kerr and they movedlived in Seattle. I would like to know what happened to a couple of the others who I presume chose to stay in Scotland (Janet (Jenny) Duncanson born around 1873; Maggie Duncanson born around 79; Agnes Duncanson born around 1892 or 1893 - they were all born in Glasgow and my great grandparents were married in Glasgow. Anyone know anything as I am stuck on a couple of dates and places for some of them. I do have a lot about the ones who came to Canada.

You could try Scotlands People at the following website, you can search for free and then you buy credits to view the information. Taking a quick look for Peter Duncanson, year of birth 1845, year of death between 1901 -1945 in Lanark there are two, they may or may not be your Peter but he is still alive in the 1901 Scottish census, a Bricklayer living in Glasgow, Lanark

There is only one Eliza Ross born 1851 in Glasgow in the 1861 Scottish Census, she is living at Green Street, Calton, Lanarkshire

Thank you so much for your assistance - the information for the 1861 census for Scotland appears to be quite right - based on the names of the brothers and sisters - as these names were also given to Eliza's children. Now I need to find the Erskine connection. I am wondering if perhaps Eliza's mother (also Eliza born 1821) may have Erskine as her maiden name. My mother was Vera Ross McLuskie; her sister Beatrice Kerr McLuskie and their aunts my grandmother was Mary Erskine Duncanson - it seems that it was common to use family names for middle names when baptising and registering births. I know that Scotland's People has some info but doing this research is very costly through all the various sites and I am on a permanent disability which does not allow to spend funds outside basic needs but I get so much joy in tracing my heritage and building a family tree. So many thanks for your help in giving me the information about the Ross family.
It seems likely that Erskine could be the surname of Eliza (1821). Doing a search of Scotlands people for Daniel Ross who married an Erskine, there is only 1 between 1538-1855. Then I narrowed it down and whoever they were they married in 1849, in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Not sure if that helps you or not. Looking at the 1841 Scottish census I cannot find an Eliza but I have two Elizabeths in Lanark. The first lived at Garscube Lone, Hamilton, Lanark and oddly enough her father was a hatter
Barclay, head, 68 (1773) Hatter Journeyman, born Lanark
James, 24 (1817) Furrier, Lanark
Elizabeth 21 (1820) Hat Picker, Lanark
Margaret 17 (1824) Silk Picker, Lanark
The second one is married to an Agricultural Labourer so it is her married name
Hope this might help you, best of luck
Thank you so much once again for your help - I am hoping that this works into my family as they would be my great great grandparents. The common factor of being in the hat industry seems like this could be where my Erskine roots came from. It is so nice that there are people like yourself willing to help find information about their Scottish ancestry - I have been able to get info from Family Search within a slim area and they are a completely free site. In order to help people I do data entry to Family Search as much as I can. Once again many many thanks.
