Looking for Irish connections to Patrick BOND, county Limerick, Ireland

Query by merv37g

I do not know how or when Patrick BOND arrived in Australia but he did work in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. He married Sarah HOWELL in 1886 in Shepparton. Sarah was born in Tasmania to free settlers Phillip HOWELL and Winifred Catherine DYER, Spring Bay, Tasmania.

Patrick and Sarah had seven children at Shepparton: Winifred , Mary Ethel, Catherine Lena, Sarah Victoria, George Thomas, Francis Patrick, Norah.

The family moved to Western Australia, exactly when I do not know but Patrick and Sarah are on the 1910 electoral roll for Katanning, WA. Their daughter Sarah Victoria married into the MCGLINN family and lived on a farm at Lake Biddy, north of Newdegate, Western Australia. Nora married an A Meyers. George and Francis enlisted into the army in WWI and but George did not serve overseas.

After the war Francis worked on the main roads in Western Australia and met Ivy May OSBORN/OSBORNE and married in Dongara, Western Australia, in 1925. Francis died in 1939 and Ivy in 1984.

Photograph attached is of Francis Patrick Bond, sitting LHS, and fellow AIF troopers prior to embarkation in 1916.

Hi Merv.

I've just joined Family Circles and posted that I too am looking for a Bond family in Limerick, Ireland. My great grandmother was b c1852/54 in Limerick. I know nothing of her family other than her father was George Bond and that he was a soldier, obviously still alive in 1874, when Alma married.

I think I came across a Patrick Bond years ago, from memory he was in London. He was from Limerick and I think he was either a revenue inspector or something similar. Don't know if this will help, but hope it will.
