Looking for JAMES EDWARDS Grange Road, Bermondsey 1846 Tailor

Query by AlsoAbi

On 17 Dec 1846 my 2xggrandfather James Edwards married Sarah Elizabeth FAUCHON at St James Church, Bermondsey
His father was listed as William Edwards, dead. James was a tailor and, after the marriage he and Sarah moved to Circus Street, Greenwich, Kent. This is by far my biggest brick wall as I have no birthplace, and the name is so common. They only had one child FRIEND HENRY EDWARDS and then moved to South Australia. He is definitely not the James Edwards, son of William Edwards and Elizabeth Roberts baptised 1817 St Alfege Greenwich. Even though there is a link in my family tree I have definitely disproved that one. I am now looking for circumstantial evidence and would like to link him with ALFRED PEARCE Brushmaker of Newington Causeway as both familes travelled to S.A. on the ship Brightman, a Pearce daughter married the brother of Sarah Elizabeth, another Pearce daughter was witness to codicil of Sarah's Will. There is also a very strong link to the DEBNEY family and Robert Debney was also a brush manufacturer in the Southwark area in the early 1800's. If I can't find James' family, I would like to find associates from his days in the UK before leaving for SA. One tiny clue that I don't know how to follow up - in a memoir his son Friend Henry wrote that his father James was a "Commercial man in England and the States of America". Don't know how this fits with being a tailor as listed on marriage and son's baptismal records. This may be just hearsay but any advice on how to follow it up would be gratefully received. i have huge amount of information on Fauchon family.
Thanks so much for any advice
