I am looking for information re Limpus and Leyland families. My mum was ethel Leyland, daughter of Frederick Leyland, son of Phillip Leyland. Edward Leyland was the first to arrive in NZ in the 1850s
My mothers mother was a daughter of Charles and Maria Limpus who lived their life in Hawkes Bay after arriving from Uk, and I think a spell in Australia between
My in law family are Rasmussen, The most senior that we know of in NZ was Hemming {Harry} Rasmussen who wed Metta Katrine Olive Ludvigsen 1887 in Auckland NZ

NgaiNgai on 2013-03-19 18:50:10Thank You barbiedoll, for your info. I actually have quite some info re family as mum[Ethel] had a lot to do with Aunts etc. And I remember Aunt Louisa quite well. This is the Limpus family I am talking of. Really trying to find other Limpus family members.

The Cyclopedia of New Zealand has Charles Limpus as being born in Liverpool 1831 and arriving in Auckland, via Melbourne,in 1857. He married Maria Burgess in 1854. They farmed at Patangata, Waipawa, Hawkes Bay. A Journal of LIMPUS marriages has been published in Family Tree Circles by Ngairedith.
