Looking for Maillard, Queens Co. (now Co Laois), esp James Nicholas Maillard, 1775-1811

Query by KarenSydow

Born 1775 Dublin, Married Catherine STUBBER, 1801, 5 children, including Nicholas Doran Proby MAILLARD (later STUBBER), author of a controversial book on Texas, and Catherine, who married Edward WINTER in Bristol, and conducted court cases herself in Dublin and London in an attempt to disinherit her cousin, Robert HAMILTON STUBBER, of the Stubber estates in Ireland.

Information about James Nicholas and his antecedents required, please! He is thought to possibly have been of West Indian origin. There were Maillards in Jamaica who were Catholics - our lot were Church of Ireland.
We have a James (Nicholas) M., Born abt 1755, buried Southwark (London) 15 March 1813,who was thought to be the father, but it now appears not. There are also Maillards in the Channel Islands (partic Jersey) to whom we can also show no connection.
