Looking for Mary SMITH of Michigan

Journal by Bobfletch

I am looking for any info on Mary SMITH. Mary was born abt 1888 in Midland, Michigan. In abt 1900 she married a ___ DERBY. Family history says that he died while working at the chemical factory in the Midland area. In 1903 Mary married Garfield VANEPPS, in Midland, Michigan. Mary went on to have 2 more marriages before she died in Jackson, Michigan. As far as I know her only children came from her marriage to Garfield VANEPPS. I am interested in who Mary's parents were and about 1st husband DERBY was.

I found a Walter Jay Vanepps 1876-1918 who married a Josephine Smith 1884-1917 in Midland Michigan on 23 February 1899. So I looked at him and he was a brother of Garfield. Father's name Jacob VANEPPS and mother's name Esther MALLORY. All the syblings were:-
Elihu Vanepps Ettie M Vanepps Garrett Vanepps Jacob W. Vanepps Milo E. C. Vanepps 1870 Garfield Vanepps 1880
Walter's wife Josephine Smith is buried at Woodland Cemetery Michigan. Her parents were George SMITH and Clara SIMMONS
Perhaps Josephine SMITH and your Mary were sisters. worth looking at the brother's VANEPP could have married SMITH 'sisters.'

the children of Walter VANEPP and Josephine SMITH were:-
Milo G Vanepps 1974 Walter W Vanepps 1902 1988 Dorothy Vanepps 1907 1993 and probably more I can't find.

I'm afraid I cannot find anything on George Smith and Clara Simmons
Josephine VANEPPS died at 412 Woodbridge St, Jackson, Michigan
You could try the Woodland Cemetery, 2615 Francis Street, it may have some more VANEPPS and SMITHS
All this was on a small tree in ancestry.com the owner seems to have both marriage and death certificates for Josephine. but not a birth certificate. only year of birth showing.

I want to thank you very much for pointing me in what I think is the correct direction. I looked up the marriage lic for Walter Vanepps and Josephine Smith, that took place on 23 Feb 1899 Midland, Michigan. The lic shows Josephine's parents as George Smith and Clara Bailey rather then Clara Simmons. I think that the Josephine Smith that married Walter VanEpps may be a sister to my Mary Smith that married Garfield VanEpps. I will keep on looking.
