Looking for McCluskey's from Antrim Ireland, children settled in Victoria, Australia

Query by divajo

William Mc Cluskey born Antrim Ireland died 1892 Yarrawonga Victoria australia. Married Elizabeth Millar/Miller descended from Thomas Millar and Euphemia White. Euphemia didn't join Elizabeth and Thomas when they arrived in the early years of Melbourne's settlement. Thomas apparently became a policeman and won a horse race in his 60s.
William McCluskey's son John married Annie Elizabeth Law, and their daughter was Mary Jane McCluskey who married a Frederick Arthur Wood. Frederick was from the Wood potters of Burslem apparently a remittance man.
I'm seeking info on the William McCluskey's parents Patrick McCluskey and Ellen McKinley.

Hi Divajo, My name is Daniel Page and I am an ancestor of the McCluskey Clan. I have been looking into it myself. Alot of the names and stories i have seen in the posts I have heard about from my father. He has researched it and has many more answers than i do, but I will try and get more info to help continue the story and maybe fill in the gaps. i can tell you that we wound up as Pages' due to someone passing in the position of either being a servant to the king , or a knight in waiting. also one of our ancestors was involved in the "Great Escape". I do not have his number handy but i believe if you look for Robert E. Page Jr. of Mesa Arizona his phone number is listed, I think his address is something like Baseline rd or something to that affect. If you find anything further for me please let me know Thanks and Regards Dan Page

Hi Dan,
not sure about an American connection but interested in hearing more. I'm in Victoria, Australia. The McCluskey's are linked to the infamous Ned Kelly - his grandmother was a McCluskey. See http://burraminebourkes.blogspot.com.au/2009/12/bourke-mccluskey-ned-kelly-connection.html
You may know the film on Ned Kelly with Heath Ledger starring? With all these things its about accuracy, names are sometimes misspelt and so forth. If u have any information about the McCluskeys in Antrim (its a Socttish name I think so not sure why they were in Ireland) I'd be pleased to help you at this end if that's of help.
Regards,
Jo

McCluskey is a surname that originated in County Londonderry, Ireland. It isn't a Scottish surname, though some McCluskey's left their home county to Scotland, Benedy Glen (in Co. Londonderry), other parts in Ireland and elsewhere.
The McCluskey's I'm researching start with George McCluskey born 1812 in Belfast (Co. Antrim). His descendents, through his second wife (Ann Key), are related to Mary Pickford, co-founder of United Artists in Hollywood.

I am a McCluskey from Antrim, Northern Ireland. As far as I'm aware the surname is Irish but some of the McCluskey's emigrated to Scotland. McCluskey was a branch of the O'Kane clan. My family come from Islandmagee a place near Larne, County Antrim. My grandfather was Sydney McCluskey.
