Looking for Oliver Monette

Query by kew19mary

I have a brick wall, my great great grandfather was born Oliver Monette in 1833 in Montreal, Quebec. On his marriage certificate he listed his father as Oliver Monette, farmer and his mother is called Clemos Dore/Doree.
Oliver came to Australia, he married in 1866. I am looking for any information on this family please. Oliver was Roman Catholic regards his religion, he was involved in the timber industry over his lifetime here as a labourer, wood splitter. I have found an Augustin and Clemos Monette are these his parents, am on the wrong track? Did this family leave and go to North America during the troubles in Montreal? Or did they stay? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Robyn

Started family researching in 1985, now retired so more time to research all my families. Some family names are Webster, Miller, Monett, Nelson, Clarke, Powell, Richardson, Roper, Manser, Peart, Arbrew, Moloney to name a few of the main ones at this time.
