i also am a garrett i dont know if we have the same family,as far back as i can go is my gr,grandfather william r garrett born 1820 in w,vahe married mary hannah canady.grandfather was monroe garrett he married martha jane jones she was born 1874 in golden pond,ky.let me know if its the same family.i would also like to know about the book.gladys garrett lester email gilester@windstream.net

My name is Jack Garrett Wiliams. I am a descendent of James Garrett. Could you let me know what your source documents are on Henry Garrett? My family and I have been searching for 30 years for Henry's direct connection to Jame Starling. I assumed it was true but haven't been able to find a will or deed or anything. Ran into Bob Wyatt and he gave me a page (from your book?) It said James was disowned by Henry because his first wife Sarah, died giving birth to James. Henry later married Margaret Clark. I find a Henry Garrett and Margaret Clark in Tenn with 2 children about the right age - is this a possible conection.

Before I met Bob,I had two written records, one W.A. Garrett, and the other by William Garrett in Virgina, that said James was disowned byhis father who was very wealthy, but neither mentioned his father's name. One of the brothers had a similar journal. Both mentioned Culpepper County as the birthplace.

I am so happy to make this connection - I was so pleased to finally connect with some of my Missouri relatives as I descend from Jarrett Bouldin Garrett one of 2 sons of James Garrett who moved back to Rockingham Va.
