Good Evening
Most of my early relatives came from Kingston just outside of creswick and about 25 minutes from Ballarat. Ballan is not that much further away. There is a pocket of the Rickard family located at Stawell but they are not on my Australia tree notwithstanding the the Rickard name is Cornish. What I did find interesting is your father Henry William Rickard was born at Scarsale in 1915. My father Kevin Joseph Rickard was born at Rainbow (near Horsham) in 1915 and at some stage later went to school at Scarsdale. If memory serves me correct he also played football and cricket and tennis for Scarsdale. During the 1990s, he attended a number of school reunions "Back to Scarsdale". I am now pondering whether your father and mine knew each other.
Regards

Bertha Caroline Rickard was my Grandma. She married Leonard Knight on 28th April, 1917. They had 2 sons: Douglas Cuthbert, and Kenneth.
Doug was my father.
Bertha's father Charles, came from St.Stephens in Brunnel,Cornwall. His father was the Joseph Rickard mentioned by stanley69.
He married Esther Allen at the Lydiard Street Wesleyan Church in Ballarat on 17th September 1877. Parish records from Cornwall will give you many generations back through the family.
I would love to make contact with anyone in the family still in Clunes, Ballan, or Melbourne. Not sure how this site works, tho'.
