Looking for Samuel Allen and Family in Arkansas and Oklahoma

Journal by RickConvers

I have been searching for my Great-grandfather Samuel Shadrick Allen b.1865 in Little Rock, Arkansas. d.1940 Ponca City Oklahoma or near there. I know that according to family accounts he came to Oklahoma sometime before 1900 and that my Great-grandmother Cora Mae was his fourth wife. We know for a certain that he owned a dry goods store on the Kaw Reservation in Oklahoma as this information and photos are included in Oklahoma History books. The only children they had I know of were my Grandmother Barbara Ann Allen b.August 1932 d.June 2012 and Reese Allen. Reese ran off as a young man and was never heard from again, whatever happened to him is one of the family mysteries that I would like to solve as Grandmother searched her entire life for him with no luck. If anyone has any information that may lead me to Samuel's family roots I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thank You! That would be them! It looks like the marriage records are his also. Grandpa's name was Samuel Shadrick Allen! I appreciate the help. How do you get access to these county records? I know how to get census records but the trip from where we live to the nearest library that has them is 2 hrs long! Oh, and are we connected to this same line or where you just offering some help? You see I love collecting kin folk!

I don't use a site for census records. I'm not willing to pay for access to public records that are supposed to be free and I have never found a free access site that will actually let you read the census and print them. I use a library in Oklahoma City but that is a ways from where we live in rural Northern Oklahoma.
