Looking for Sterling Moreland

Journal by becka

I have just started my search and believe my great grandfathers name was Sterling. He was married first to a Sarah Barnes or Burns and had one daughter named Martha E. He married a second time to a Martha Ann Miller and they had my grandfather Marcus D. Moreland in 1882.I was told my grandfather only had brothers but research is showing 2 girls.I believe that my great grandfather had a brother named Micajah Derum Moreland who married a Elizabeth Frie.

Hi Becka- Marcus D Moreland is my great grandfather and I have been hitting brick wall after brick wall trying to find who the parents of Sterling & Micajah were. I do know they are both listed as being born in Tennesse and in 1850 they were living in Tishomingo County Mississipi. Sterling moved to Calloway County Kentucky and after Micajah's death in the 1867? his wife and some of his children moved to Texas. Sterling eventually moved in with his daughter (Martha Bunch) and her husband in Weakley County TN. During this time Sterling applied for admission to the Confederate Veterans Home in Nashville. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated and if I find anything else I will pass it on to you.
I guess you are a first cousin to my dad, Richard!
