Looking for the parents and grandparents of John Ballantyne (1784-1846)

My g3-grandfather, John Ballantyne, and his wife, Janet Matilda Turnbull Ballantyne (1786-1870), came from Roxburghshire, Scotland, to Illinois/Texas in 1841, as part of the Mormon migration. We believe that John's parents were Thomas and Janet Inglis Ballantyne, but we have no real information about them, and know nothing of their progenitors.
