Looking for THOMPSON/THOMSON related to CHRISTIAN/DAVID, sailor on "Hotspur" 1862

Journal by Fowlie

My gggrandfather was called David Thompson, but there is a distinct possibility that he changed his name from Christian Thom(p)son on arrival in Australia on the "Hotspur" in 1862.

He married Mary McDonald/McDonnell, who emigrated on the same ship.

When David died in 1900, three nephews, Hugh, Alexander and William were mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald, but we have no links to these men and don't know how to find them.

Paperwork indicates that David was born in Belfast, County Down, in about 1835, and he could have been the youngest of 16 children??? His parents were probably Samuel Thompson and Sarah Kennedy.

Any information, however insignificant, would be greatly appreciated.
